Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide – 2 GHRP-2 (also known as KP-102) a short polypeptide belonging to the group of growth hormone releasing proteins, it contains only six amino acids. Its molecular weight is 817.9 and its molecular formula is C45H55N9O6. This hexapeptide was made in the early 1990's. The group of peptides belonging to KP-102 was discovered about 20 years ago as synthetic oligopeptides derived from specific amino acids. Few studies have shown its great potential in stimulating the natural release of endogenous growth hormone through its influence on the G-protein receptor. The largest clinical research on peptide hormones including KP-102 was completed in 1997 by American researchers (Arkansas University). This research has found a connection to increase levels of IGF-1, and also to boost the functioning of the hypothalamus. But its strong ability to positively affect the stimulation of pituitary function remains its main characteristic. Also GH-Releasing Peptide-2 has functions like promoting average muscle weight gain. Likewise, it has been proven that GHRP-2 affects physiological system making it increase calcium ion influx and has some anti-inflammatory properties.
